When Alumni Engagement Needed CPR: A Totally Non-Medical Intervention

NYU’s alumni department had gotten used to producing their own content but was curious to see if getting some outside help could give their programs and events a shot in the arm. So they approached my team for an initial assignment of rebranding their annual Alumni Weekend festivities. 8 years, and 12 campaigns later, I’d say they’re enjoying the experience.

The Alumni Day That Started it All
We zeroed in on the U in NYU and cented the campaign around the personal stories and accomplishments of NYU alumni. In addition to branding the even the campaign included email reminders, social media posts and slew of signage and swag leading up to and during the event.
When the Learning Doesn’t Stop After Graduation: Alumni College
When it came time to brand a new initiative for them, we chose to tap into alumni’s nostalgia for the location of the school, New York City, making imagery of the city a key part of the visual branding. This campaign lived online, so we created a visual brand and microsite to handle signups.
Celebrating the Helpers: Alumni Changemakers
The reputation of a college is sometimes tied to its rich, famous, and powerful alumni. Which is why NYU wanted our next challenge to be bringing much-needed attention to those alumni making a profound, but sometimes quiet difference in the world. This digital-only campaign is now an annual tradition and includes an awardee video and social media posts launched over the course of several weeks.
