How did I work with UN agencies to advocate for children’s rights?
Children’s sexuality, I know, it’s not exactly a fun topic. But it’s an important one. Which is why I was so happy to support UNFPA, the UN’s sexual and reproductive health agency, with their awareness campaign targeting Eastern Europe and Central Asia region.
They asked me to visualize their research on keeping girls in school through puberty. I brought the data to life through the story of a girl named Lena.
The Toolkit:
- Custom Illustration
- Motion Design
- Animation
Word must have spread in UN circles, as UNICEF’s Jamaica office soon asked me for their explainer video. This time, it focused on how grown-ups can support our kids through the tumultuous age of adolescence.
The goal was to keep the character designs as simple as possible to make them feel universally applicable to any child, but still expressive enough to communicate the range of emotions we needed for the campaign.
